about

A ride on a runaway train through Max Ernst's surrealist collage novel of the 1930s, the story of a young girl about to enter a convent, dreaming of the patriarchy, of losing her hair, of love. A new recording, made on the 25th anniversary of the original, featuring Laura Bohn and Nikola Printz as the young girl Marceline-Marie, Rotimi Agbabiaka as the narrator and Bradley Kynard as all the men.

What drives the piece is Wold's score, a beautiful and distinctive creation - San Francisco Chronicle

It gets a perfect rating because it's unique, breathtaking, and thoroughly unflawed. - Progression

a spellbinding wonder—hilarious and horrifying in that good old surrealist way, replete with sexual terrors, denuded schoolgirls and corny religious conflations. - CitySearch
